This is a simple recipe that creates a lovely meal with gorgeous tomatoes – a beautiful splash of red! This is a great recipe during all the herbal programs. Serves 4 people Ingredients: 4 cups of tomato juice 12 medium tomatoes with the skins removed 1 medium-sized cucumber Half a red onion 2 cloves of garlic 1 green capsicum (diced small) 1 tsp of honey 3 x spring onions (chopped) Juice of half a lemon Juice of half a lime 2 dstsp of wine vinegar 1 tsp of tarragon 3 tsp of fresh basil (torn) Half a tsp of cumin A quarter of a cup of fresh parsley 2 dstp of extra virigin olive oil Salt and black pepper Method: Keep a small portion of the cucumber and diced tomatoes to create some texture and for garnish at the end. Put the remaining ingredients in the Ladyship blender and process. Chill in the fridge until very cold. Add some of the reserved tomatoes and cucumber but leave a little for garnish on top. Decorate with additional basil if you have any and garnish. Tarragon has been used as a traditional remedy to stimulate appetite and alleviate anorexic symptoms. Fresh tarragon is one of the highest antioxidant value food sources among the common herbs. The herb is a very rich source of vitamins such as vitamin-C, vitamin-A as well as B-complex group of vitamins.
Tofu & Green Bean Curry
Here is a hot little number to surprise you. Serves 4 people and all from one pot! Ingredients: 125 gm (1/2 cup) green beans packet of firm tofu (about 200gm) 10 x sliced mushrooms 2 x chopped onions 1 tbsp of curry paste (Indian or Thai ) 1 tbsp tamari sauce (optional) 1 can of coconut milk (or grate 1 coconut and squeeze into water to make coconut milk) Method: In a pot, heat the curry paste and coconut milk and mix together. Add mushrooms and tofu and bring to simmer. Add the beans and onions A variation is to use fish instead of tofu, and courgettes (very chunky chopped) instead of beans – great with Thai green curry. Miso can be used instead of tamari – add at end of cooking to preserve vital nutrients. Serve with salad or cooked green vegetables. Salmon & Asparagus with Caper Sauce
Salmon and asparagus are one of my favorite combinations. It’s simple, highly nutritious, and absolutely delicious! Makes a meal for one person with a bit of extra sauce. Serves 1 person Ingredients: A fillet of fresh salmon A handful of asparagus 1/2 Sweet Potato 1/2 Red onion A few drops of olive oil 1 x lemon Method: In one pan lightly sauteé the salmon in a few drops of olive oil, while in another pan gently sauté them sweet potato, red onion, and asparagus. Add a few cloves of chunky garlic and squeeze the juice of one lemon over the asparagus as it cooks. Ingredients for the sauce: 1 x dstsp of capers 1 x dstsp of yogurt Half a dstsp of lemon juice Half a dstsp of olive oil Method for the sauce: Whip together in a Ladyship Blender 1 part capers, 1 part yoghurt, ½ part lemon juice, ½ part olive oil with a little salt and pepper. This is simply delightful drizzled over the salmon and asparagus. High in fat, protein, and fiber, this meal is extremely satisfying. Beetroot & Grapefruit Smoothie
A wonderful superfood combination! Ingredients: 1 large bunch of Cilantro 2 x sachets of BodiTune DETOX n SLIM Protein Powder Half a large Avocado 1 x Grapefruit Half of a large Beetroot 2 big pieces of Ginger 3 dstsp of Dates 6 to 8 cubes of ice 400ml of water Method:Soak the dates in half a cup of water. Chop the Cilantro into chunky bits and with the Avocado add to the Ladyship Blender. Chop the ends off the Grapefruit, chop into 4 pieces and add to blender. Chop off the ends off the Beetroot and then chop into pieces. Chop up Ginger leaving the skin on. Add Beetroot and Ginger to blender. Cacao Bean & Spinach Smoothie
Antioxidant Heaven – this unusual combination will surprise you! Ingredients: 3 bunches of organic spinach 2 x stalks of celery Half an avocado 2 x dstsp of organic cacao beans 2 x dstsp of gogi berries 1 x sachet of DETOX n SLIM Protein powder 200ml to 400ml of water Method: Soak the Gogi berries in half a cup of water. Mushroom Stroganoff
A delicious creamy special! If you are missing something meaty, this is a great alternative! Not only are mushrooms and garlic great for your immune system, but this recipe has good fats and is low in sugars. Serves 2 people Ingredients: 300g mixed organic mushrooms 6-8 garlic cloves 1 white onion 2 Tbsp Coconut oil 2 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil 1 teaspoon cayenne 1Tsp Mixed herbs 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce 400ml Can of Coconut cream Small bunch parsley 2 stalks of spring onion Method: Heat oil in a pan, chop onions and sauté for 2 minutes stirring in garlic and cayenne for 1 minute until a little soft. Chop mushrooms throw into pan and cook on high for 5 minutes stirring regularly. Drizzle over with olive oil while cooking. Pour in the mixed herbs and Worcestershire sauce, then lower the heat and stir in the cream. Simmer for 5 minutes until the sauce thickens. Tomato, Leek & Onion Soup
I love this soup. It’s got to be my favorite soup for detoxing. Great for any time of year! Super healthy, high in antioxidants, and excellent for your herbal detox program or herbal slim program. Serves 4 people Ingredients: 4 small or 2 x large onions 1 x large leek 6 cloves of garlic 1 can of chopped tomatoes 4 fresh tomatoes 100gm of tomato paste 1 tsp turmeric 1 tsp Cayenne (or paprika) 1 tsp caraway seeds 2 tsp miso paste Method: Finely chop and lightly heat onions, leek and garlic in olive oil over low heat. Sweat with the turmeric, cayenne and caraway seeds for a couple of minutes. Add canned tomatoes, chopped fresh tomatoes and tomato paste. Add water to make enough soup and stir over heat until the vegetables are cooked. Just before serving – add 2 teaspoons of miso. Adding at the end of cooking preserves the nutrients in miso. Thai Style Broccoli & Mushroom Soup
A spicy little number and a classic Thai-style soup, similar to Tom Yum. Serves 2 people Ingredients: 1 large carrot 1 small head of broccoli, (or a handful of long green beans) A dozen cherry tomatoes A generous handful of white or brown mushrooms 1 x green capsicum 1 x red capsicum 3 cloves garlic 2 x 440g can coconut milk 1 tsp honey Juice of 1 x limeSpices Below (or use authentic Thai green curry paste) 3 x kaffir lime leaves A stalk of lemongrass 1-2 small red chilies or ½ tsp chili flakes 1/3 cup fresh coriander leaves 2 tbsp fish sauce Method: Chop carrot, broccoli, mushrooms, and capsicum into bite-sized pieces. Finely chop or mince lemongrass, kaffir, chili, garlic, and coriander. Heat wok or pan and add oil. Add garlic, chili and stir for 2 minutes. Add carrot, broccoli, and ½ cup of water. Cover and simmer for 2-3 minutes. Add mushrooms, tomatoes, and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes. Lastly, add lemongrass, kaffir, coconut milk, and the remainder of the ingredients stirring continuously. Allow to simmer and sit for 5 minutes before serving. Lovely Limes: Limes contain unique flavonoid compounds that have antioxidant and anti-cancer properties. Limes have interesting flavonoids called flavonol glycosides and include many kaempferol-related molecules.
