Deep Cleanse – Day 5

So you may have taken the first half of the 40 capsules and the second 20 will be waiting for you at the end of the day. If you’re using BodiClenz powder, then it’s one smoothie in the morning and 1 at lunchtime. You can still have your clean, fresh salad or hot vegetable dinner.

Some quiet time alone, deep meditation, or a long gentle walk are just what you need. Connecting with new energy sources around you will help you through this challenging stage. I thought this was a good time to share some ideas around protein sources on your program and to talk about how nature can help detox stress from our body.

Also, it’s good to consider other energy sources, such as light for example. You can investigate this further in the video below.

Sunlight – Can We Tap Into This Source Of Energy?
We know that light has a powerful influence on our circadian rhythm and that a healthy sleep-wake cycle affects our metabolism, appetite, and weight control. The pineal gland is a small endocrine gland in the brain. It produces melatonin, a serotonin-derived hormone, which affects the modulation of sleep patterns, which is central to maintaining good health.

Deep Cleanse – Day 6

Hope all is going well and things are starting to move. If you are feeling a bit bloated, full or constipated, you can heat up your food with spices such as Turmeric, Curry and Chilli to get things going. You must also make sure you keep your water levels up.

If you aren’t moving too much or things haven’t changed dramatically please don’t worry as it varies for everyone. Some people get a shift on day 1 whilst, for others it might be day 14 and some people don’t get a really noticeable shift.

All of these are normal, as everyone is different. If you aren’t getting much, it’s not that your body isn’t detoxing but that you may be clear of plaque and letting go of the toxins through your kidney and liver functions more than just your bowels. Toxins get released from your cells into the channels of elimination and if you are quite clear in the colon and intestines, you might not have any dramatic evacuations.

Hope all is going well and you’re feeling light and energised.

Deep Cleanse – Day 7

Yesterday you could have noticed the effect of taking the double dose of herbs for a couple of days, and perhaps extra bowel movements will have resulted. If not then this could be just around the corner. We also talked about the healing nutrients found in your plant-based diet. It’s not just that your food is 100% plant-based but also that it’s completely unprocessed.

Herbs have been used for thousands of years for their healing powers. I thought you might find it inspiring to look at how herbal medicine heals your body in a little more detail. See the videos below.

In this video, Brett shares the contents of his pantry and explains how a lot of herbal medicines can be found in your kitchen. Understanding how to use simple herbs and spices as healing medicines can be a major step forward in managing your health long term.

How Herbal Medicine Heals
More than 20,000 species of plants are used in traditional medicines, alleged to be all potential reservoirs for new drugs, and are considered a potential source of chemical constituents with anti-cancer activities. In this video and article, I will explain where herbal medicine begins, and how science is now recognising these amazing plants.

Deep Cleanse – Day 8

I hope you’re coping with the restricted detox diet and not feeling too deprived. It’s often just a matter of finding interesting ways to make meals. Remember you can snack on pickles, olives, dates, prunes, baby carrots, cherry tomatoes, grapes, cherries, raisins, and mandarins. Just a few ideas.

I’m thinking you might need a few more meal ideas, so I’m reminding you about the recipe page below.

Barbecued Vegetables
One thing you often think of when eating just vegetables is, “What about if we go to a barbecue”. The great news is, there’s still plenty you can eat at the barbecue. Check it out in this video.

DETOX Recipes Galore
There’s over 100 recipes available on our recipe page. Remember to select the 14-day program from the Herbal Program drop-down selector. We do recommend the recipes in the user guide, and my Cleansed & Cured book as the absolute ultimate recipes, but if you’re getting bored, maybe it’s time to try a few new things and get experimental.

Deep Cleanse – Day 9

I hope you’re getting through your program well and not feeling too deprived. One of the things we often get asked is, “What about my protein levels?” or “I don’t think I can survive without my meat”.

This is especially common with men for some reason and I think this is mostly emotional attachment. I usually respond with the gorilla message. “Did you know that Gorilla’s are 90% vegetarian and they are the strongest animal on earth”.

Also, when you look at the animals we eat for meat, mostly cattle and sheep, they get all of their protein directly from green leafy vegetation, like grass. There is clearly no shortage of protein when eating your greens.

Find out more on this subject in the videos and articles below.

Meat vs Vegetables
A recent study conducted in New Zealand found that people on a meat-free diet were able to lose up to 11kg weight in one year and reduce medications by up to 29%. Watch this interesting news clip below. Brett also talks about the science of meat vs vegetables.

Super Vegetarian Diet
Research shows that plant-based diets are cost-effective, low-risk interventions that may lower body mass index (BMI), lower blood pressure, and cholesterol levels. They may also reduce the number of medications needed to treat chronic diseases and lower death rates for our biggest killer, heart disease.

Vegetarian diets have also been shown to provide more than enough protein to meet dietary requirements. In fact, vegetarians have more stamina and generally live longer healthier lives.

Deep Cleanse – Day 10

Nutrition is a complex subject to understand, and there are a lot of differing views depending on which field of the health sciences you listen to. It shouldn’t really be that hard to understand, because when you look around at wild animals they seem to get all they need directly from nature.

The problem lies with the man-made food that we eat. It’s enhanced with fertilisers, sprayed with chemicals then destroyed in factory processing, and pumped with artificial substances to get us hooked.

Whilst doing the detox programme you are eating clean, whole unprocessed food which will nourish your body and give it what it needs. Nutritionists talk mainly of carbohydrates, fats, and protein, but if we take a higher view of nutrients there are many others we can tap into.

Today I thought we should mention the list of often forgotten nutrients that we find in abundance in fruits and vegetables. Why don’t you check out my fridge while you’re at it?

Inside Brett’s Fridge
I’m sharing the contents of my fridge during my Ultimate Herbal DETOX program. Although I’m following the one-month Detox in this video, the only thing you won’t be allowed from my fridge is the eggs. Everything else is perfect for you!

Takeaway Food on Your Detox
A common message we get on live chat is “What can I eat” when people are on a Detox program and either traveling or at a restaurant. In this short video, I share some simple solutions for takeaway food on your detox.

It’s hard to 100% perfect and stick strictly to the eating plan, so we make a couple of minor exceptions, but this is only for the odd night when you’re out and can’t prepare food at home.

These options include Thai Red or Green Vegetable Curry, Chinese Vegetable Chop Suey, Indian Vegetable Korma or Vindaloo, Pita Pit Roast Kumara Salad or similar, Turkish Falafel Salad, Any of the Vegetable soups, Fruit Salads or Green Garden Salads.

Macronutrients & Micronutrients Explained
When completing the Ultimate Herbal DETOX your nutrient levels of specific healing compounds will go through the roof. This is because of the plant-based and superfood diet that you will be eating, including lots of herbs and spices. These nutrients are often overlooked in traditional nutrition.

Deep Cleanse – Day 11

When detoxing and looking at your long-term health it is very important to consider the quality of the water you are drinking. For example, a lot of town water supplies contain chlorine, fluoride, sediment from the pipes, potentially other heavy metals, and very occasionally, parasites.

You can get bottled water which is probably better, but I recommend filtering and mineralising your own water. If you have access to mineral hot pools, then I recommend soaking once or twice a week, but also an Epsom salt bath every other day is excellent during your detox.

About Water
Here I show you my water supply and also how to get the best out of your local supplier of Epsom salt. Use 2-3 cups in your bath and soak for 20 minutes during your detox. Also continue twice a week long-term for stress relief and bone and joint health.

Tips for your Detox Dinners
A great way to make Dinner extra easy on your detox is to make bulk amounts, so you have leftovers for a couple of days. I do this with my Curries, Stir-fry’s and Soups. Then you can freeze some if you don’t eat it all and have it later on.

Deep Cleanse – Day 12

I’m so glad you’ve got this far into your program. There’s no turning back now as there’s a light a the end of the tunnel and it’s a very bright light. Many of the benefits of this detox will appear in the weeks afterward, so look out for them. I’ve still got a little more info to share with you which I’m sure you will enjoy.

Here’s a great recipe that contains Coconut Cream, as Coconut Cream should become part of your long-term diet plan. It’s good fat and I highly recommend it along with Coconut Oil.

By the way, well done so far, the end is in sight,

Cauliflower, Leek & Kumara Soup
Instead of thickening a soup with flour, how about Cauliflower? Not only is Cauliflower gluten-free, a wholefood and has almost zero carbohydrate content, it tastes great! In this recipe, I will puree the Cauliflower with some Leek to make a delicious base for this amazing soup.

Deep Cleanse – Day 13

One thing that has been well established worldwide is that the mind has a powerful influence over the health of the body. This is commonly termed Mind/Body Medicine. It has become so widely acknowledged that in New Zealand and around the world, the Universities now offer Master Degree and Doctorate programs in Mind-Body Medicine.

The placebo effect has been known to account for up to 30% of the result of pharmaceutical drugs under clinical trial and often result in healing of the person who has taken a placebo (no medication) entirely due to their ‘believing it was a drug.

The power of the mind should not be underestimated and this is why I mention it today. The opportunity exists for you at this point in your program to tap into the power of your mind quickly and easily. Find out more below

You really do have the power to heal yourself.

Brett Introduces Unconditional Energy Healing
I’ve practiced Mind/Body Energy Healing for over 25 years and can explain my technique in such a way that makes it accessible to anyone with an open mind to try out for themselves. There is a short series available on this subject. See the entire series here

Deep Cleanse – Day 14

Well, today is the day – it is your last day of taking the detox capsules and you are almost at the end of the program!

As you begin to think about the end of the program, it is important to think about how you can keep the transformation focus going as you return to “normal” life.

Firstly you are entering stage 4 of the cleansing program and this is where you do the elimination diet in reverse and return to normal eating if you choose. A good course of probiotics is recommended along with a long-term approach to a non-toxin accumulating diet.

The follow-up stage is very important and should not be under-estimated. The long-term healing of many irritating disturbances can sometimes occur well after the actual detox stage is completed. Allowing your body more time to experience a peaceful toxin-free ‘holiday’ period is highly beneficial. How long would you like to be on holiday, 10 days or 6 weeks? I am sure your Colon, Liver, Kidneys, Heart, and Brain all feel the same way.

Reverse elimination diet
If you go back to the beginning of the program and look at Stage 1 (Preparation), you will see the elimination diet. The ideal way to come back onto normal food is to reverse this elimination diet. Better still is to reverse the elimination diet over 3 weeks if possible and introduce new foods each day, one or two at a time. This way you can find out what foods make you feel clear and energised and what foods give you symptoms of toxicity or bloating. Be aware of feelings of agitation, irritation, hyperactivity, gas, bloating or pain after food, or skin irritations, dryness, redness, itching, sneezing, headaches, or fatigue as these can all be signs to avoid certain foods.

Also, check the information below about probiotics and my long-term suggested eating plan.

I do suggest checking out our follow-up plans, the Ultimate Herbal SLIM and BodiTune Protein drinks as these always help to keep you on track.

Many Blessing of health in the years ahead,

Probiotics & The Gut-Brain Connection
The day after completing the capsules, seek out the best probiotic product you can find locally. It is best to choose a broad-spectrum probiotic formula with many billions of cells per capsule. There are several good probiotics on the market and new advanced strains appearing all the time. I suggest taking a product recommended by your local natural health professional, and following this course for one month. If you don’t want to spend the extra money you can keep consuming plenty of live organic unsweetened yogurt and avoid processed sugar during this following month.

Brett’s Recommended Diet – Keeping It Simple
Although I recommend a whole-food (unprocessed), low starch (low GIycaemic Index) diet in general, along with adequate protein, there may be many more specific individual needs. I recommend looking into the “Blood Type Diet” for some broad food ideas. I also suggest checking out “Metabolic typing”, “The Zone Diet” and “Macrobiotics”. I do not suggest following any of these to the letter as they can become very complex, pedantic, or fanatical. I also advocate an 80-90% vegetarian and largely raw food diet. Just take the parts that appeal to you and most of all, trust your feelings.

  • Avoid refined starchy carbohydrates like white flour and sugar, chips or fries, bread, cakes, biscuits, buns, pasta, pastry, etc.
  • Avoid or minimise consumption of foods made with wheat (which contains gluten).
  • Try to eat only whole foods (fresh fruits and vegetables) and completely avoid refined products. They have little nutrition and tend to bind and inhibit digestion.

Remember to look out for those Fads that come around every year and avoid them.
